I joined the American Business School as a 4th year student after having done a Licence in Business Communications (commonly called a Bachelor in Europe, but different from a BA program). And I had the great opportunity to do my ABS internship at L’Oréal Paris, as Business Development Intern.
This field mission was a great opportunity to become part of an existing team, and to keep on building a professional network for the future. Of course, you have to prove what you are able to do, and the concrete missions assigned from my boss and from the headquarter of L‘Oréal gave me this opportunity.
I gained confidence from the fact that I was delegated similar responsibilities to the permanent members of the team and this duplicated my motivation! As a way, my amount of work seemed really easy to manage!
The Mass Distribution sector is difficult: you have to know the codes, the vocabulary and how to behave: I had to be aware that the people I met every day, my customers, were in the store since 3.30 in the morning! So waking up at 5.00 to meet my first customer at 6.30 and negotiate business was part of my job.
During this internship I faced some problems, and even if I was working autonomously, permanent staff members was there to help me and to answer my questions. They recognized my ability when I was asked to replace one of my colleagues who stopped working for several weeks. I became responsible for the biggest customers whose contracts can bring hundred thousand Euros to L’Oréal…
This internship allowed me into understanding the functioning of a logistics chain, and to be aware of negotiating issues. I developed my interpersonal skills and my autonomy, and also I became multiskills, especially within the verticality of the work.
By providing us good advices during CMP programs and by following every student individually, the BBA program at The American Business School Paris gave me the confidence and practical insights I needed to apply, enjoy and succeed in the interview process.
More than a professional attitude, ABS Paris is training us to become future International Managers and Leaders by working in an intercultural environment. In that way, after my graduation I will pursue for an internationally-oriented job in the sector of mass distribution.

A group of fourth year students at the American Business School demonstrate their commitment to cultural diversity, humanitarian aid and the development of international community through their involvement in “The Ground’s of Memories Project,”  organised by the association "Bulles d'Oxygene". Volunteering their time and applying their practical Business skills learnt during their Bachelor of Business Administration degree, they are helping to develop artistic projects that will raise money for future development work in African countries. Watch out for the production of “The Ground’s of Memories Project,” a contemporary show about the slavery with 55 participants coming from all generations, all cultures and different religions, to be staged in Paris, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Dakar-Senegal, New Orleans and New York in 2009. The Bulle's Oxygene has already received a grant from the Pierre Bergé Foundation. If you would like to make a finacial contribution to the project, or for any further inquiries, please contact:
